Hello, I recently chose to replace my default 8GB RAM with a new kit recommended online. I bought the CORSAIR VENGEANCE® LPX 16GB kit, but installation was unsuccessful. After fitting the two new sticks, my computer started but remained blank. It would shut down and restart with the new RAM, yet it never booted into BIOS or showed any output. I experimented with different RAM slots, including using a single stick, a new one, and an old one. Despite having built computers before and being tech-savvy, I’m still unsure what caused the issue. I reinserted the old RAM and managed to get a boot, but it required some adjustments and moving the old stick around. I’ve attached a photo of my motherboard and the original RAM stick for reference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I’d prefer to use only the new RAM and perform a BIOS reset. It seems the system might be trying to load the old RAM’s timing, which could prevent the new RAM from functioning properly. The restarts are probably due to it attempting… and failing… to complete the RAM training. A BIOS reset should resolve this. Also, could you tell me what CPU model it is?
Reset your BIOS after installing new RAM even if you see only a black screen. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
At first I just added the new RAM, but then it didn’t work. I mixed things up and only used one of the new modules. The same problem happened with all the different setups.
Upgrade the RAM first and then reinitialize the BIOS. You can reset it using jumpers on the motherboard or by removing the CMOS battery. If you choose the latter, look for a small battery near the CPU—possibly under the GPU if it's hidden. Disconnect the power source, hold the power button for roughly ten seconds, reinsert the battery, and then power up. I haven't used jumpers before, so I'm unsure about that method; perhaps LIGISTX has guidance?
We should look up the specific model online to locate the jumper. The CMOS battery seems okay. Disconnecting the PSU from the wall works fine. If you search for your board’s model and reset instructions, you’ll likely find the jumper position. Since I’m on a phone, it’s hard to do thorough research right now…

We require the CPU model details (for example, Intel i5-9400F...). Are you referring to "Intel i5 processor" as if it were a car brand like BMW? Which model year are you interested in—2002 or 2021? Do you mean the base 320i, M340i, or M3 Competition? Also, please specify the CyberPowerPC RAM stick rating mentioned on its side.
