I previously managed to play bo3 smoothly on my 1050it and Pentium G3258. Now I’m unsure why it no longer works—I used to achieve 60 to 80 fps with mid to high settings. No clear reasons, though; I’ve updated all drivers, installed the latest BIOS, and have 16GB of RAM.

99% utilization with minimal impact; Windows Defender was heavily used, but performance issues resolved.

Well, that answers your question for you. For one reason or another, you're going to need a better CPU unless you can overclock far enough.

It's unclear why you worked it before and now you're considering a new CPU.

Is this version current? The game itself is up-to-date.

If your CPU usage spikes without heavy tasks, it’s likely malware present. Run MalwareBytes to check for threats.
