Black Ops 3 crashing on startup.
Black Ops 3 crashing on startup.
I purchased this game last year and experienced numerous launch difficulties, preventing me from playing it until recently. Due to an inability to receive a refund, I am seeking a solution to enable game functionality.
The issue persists despite extensive troubleshooting: the game consistently fails to launch, displaying "Game failed launching, would you like to boot into safe mode." The message either disappears spontaneously or remains inactive. My troubleshooting attempts include adding the entire BO3 folder to my antivirus exception list, performing a clean boot, verifying game files (x14), reinstalling the game on two separate hard drives (x4), and attempting to run it on two different systems, including prior to a PC upgrade. I have not successfully launched the game and do not possess any configuration files within the BO3 folder; at best, I see the initial startup cutscene before it crashes.
I have not used Razer applications or NZXT Cam. I've even tested the game on two separate systems, and it consistently fails to launch, regardless of previous functionality. My current specifications are: Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2060 Super 8GB, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, two monitors, Corsair Strafe keyboard, and Avira antivirus software. My previous specifications were: Intel i5 7600k, GTX 1050ti 4GB, 16GB 2400MHz RAM, two monitors, Corsair Strafe, and Avira antivirus. I have researched extensively online, examining threads from 2017 which have not resolved the issue, as these problems are consistently attributed to antivirus conflicts or Razer incompatibilities.
Currently, I have uninstalled the game due to its 100GB space usage, and I am seeking assistance to enable gameplay during my quarantine. The game is owned via Steam.
A year after downloading the game, I continue to experience the same problem. This time, on my initial attempt, I successfully completed the loading screen until the Activision name appeared, only for the game to crash. Following this event, the game now completely refuses to launch and does not even display the “Would you like to boot in safe mode” message.
Following extensive troubleshooting, I determined the root cause of these problems. Upgrading my PC and reinstalling Windows initially resolved some previous issues, but the primary problem stemmed from my Actual Multiple Monitor Software. Disabling this software enabled me to successfully launch the game. Subsequent testing confirmed that the issue wasn't my dual monitor setup, but rather the software itself. I can now play BO3 with both monitors active when the Actual Multiple Monitors software is disabled. Notably, even in a clean boot mode with the software disabled, I received the same results. A standard boot with the software disabled may have been the solution to the issue all along. I trust this information will be helpful to others.
