I'm thinking about making the jump from my Ryzen 2700x to a new 3900x. With Black Friday coming up, I'm curious if there might be any deals on the 3900x worth waiting for. It still looks like outlets such as Best Buy and Amazon are having difficulties keeping it stocked, so I'm not sure it would then get discounted for Black Friday. What are your thoughts?

It's really too soon to start distributing Black Friday materials. Plan ahead and revisit later.

When the agreements are revealed, take a close look. No ads have been posted yet, so I can't assist further. Are you looking for the 3900X or do you just want to spend money?

I mainly work with 3D modeling and rendering. More threads improve rendering speed, and since my tools rely on single-core performance, the 3900x offers the best value. Are there any discounts on Ryzen second-gen CPUs from last year?

Certainly there were. Black Friday and Cyber Monday provided discounts on nearly everything. It's hard to determine the exact amounts since they haven't been announced yet. Indeed, the 3900X will be available at a reduced price.
