I've been thinking about getting into an Anno game for a while now. Which one should I begin with? Ubisoft is currently running a sale on them all, which matches the typical pricing.
Haha, I kept my original version of Anno 1602.
In reality, though, I tried it as I was moving away from those kinds of games. Not affecting the main discussion, but if I had only the original, what would be a suitable game to try? I’m not sure if it would make a difference or if the updated one is still the best choice.
I chose 1404 mainly because it's affordable, comes with some extra content, and looks good enough to run on my budget laptop. I've already installed it on my PC and am getting over 200 fps in 1440p, so I expect solid performance. Now all I need is to figure out what I'm doing inside the game. The tutorial doesn’t guide me closely and often pushes me to make errors without clear instructions. That’s fine for me, but it makes things tricky at times. Every time I place something, the person corrects me about its position. Thankfully, Google has learned the controls.
I plan to buy 2205 next but will wait until it drops below $10.00. It was around $8.00 a few years ago at GMG, so I’ll try to get it again when it’s cheaper. I’m also considering 1701 soon because it’s consistently only $2.50.
1800 seems like a great deal but I might not see it on my PC until Anno 1906 releases. I’ve made that year up since the games have ended in 00, 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05. It would make sense for Anno 1906 or maybe 1999 as a future update. Could that be a good time for a game like this?
