CPU model: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. Motherboard: ROG STRIX X570-F. RAM: 48 GB total (two sticks). Power supply: Corsair HX Series HX850, 850W, 80 Plus Platinum, high performance, fully modular. Operating system: Windows 10, 64-bit version. Graphics card: NAVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 OC (not overclocked unless system did it). Hardware: New within a year, purchased from a vendor, not second hand. GPU behavior: Has begun to malfunction recently; no recent upgrades. Power supply and OS are current. Restarted device after a Windows update. Main screen froze with distorted lines during a game stream on Friday; Saturday showed a black streak on one screen while playing Reddit videos. Only one screen affected. Performed GPU DDU reinstall, updated drivers, reinstalled OS. Streamed Sunday night 15th – everything worked until a sudden blackout during streaming, followed by crashes. Streamed and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on highest settings without issues. On Oct 15th everything was fine until a crash occurred. Tested video encoding, but it failed. Performed a full system check with Windows PowerShell; all files were intact except for corrupted entries. Repairs completed successfully. For online fixes, logs are available in the CBS directory. Offline repairs included BIOS update and driver reinstall. Tested streaming again after updates; game crashed intermittently. Video encoding succeeded. When idle, no issues with YouTube, Twitch, or Plex. GPU mounting problem: one bracket screw appears loose, preventing secure attachment; other bracket screws work fine. No other PC available for direct hardware testing.

The error message appears when there’s a problem with the NVENC feature, which helps capture and transmit videos. It points to possible issues with your device or how you’re streaming or recording. This usually shows up only during video playback? Do your games work fine when you’re not streaming? If it’s a GPU problem, consider replacing it if the warranty is still valid.

The error message usually appears when there’s a problem with the NVENC encoder, a tool for recording and streaming videos. It points to possible issues with your device or the settings for streaming or recording. Does this only happen during streaming? Are your games stable when playing offline?

Black lines showing up on the display when linked to an RTX 4080 OC might stem from a recognized problem with these graphics cards. This can lead to a black or empty screen during startup. Once the operating system is running, the issue usually vanishes. Such occurrences are reported on specific motherboards running UEFI. Nvidia has issued a GPU firmware update for the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 to resolve these concerns. The Nvidia GPU Firmware Update Tool can identify if an update is required and, if so, offers the user to install it. If you encounter this problem, visit Nvidia’s website to download the appropriate update. Follow their guidance carefully when applying the fix. Should the issue persist after updating, consider these alternatives: Verify you’re using the most recent SBIOS from your motherboard manufacturer (which you have done), switch boot mode to Legacy/CSM, try booting with a different graphics card or using integrated graphics. If the problem continues, reaching out to Nvidia support is advisable for further help. Remember, if the product is still under warranty, replacement may be an option.

It appears to crash only during streaming and gaming, functioning normally otherwise. It worked fine on Friday for five hours while playing a game without any issues. The problem started when I tried to update the GPU on Saturday, October 14th, after noticing a strange visual glitch while browsing Reddit. The device has a 36-month warranty, but it’s only been through about 11 months.

I recommend continuing to attempt a solution. If fixing the issue remains challenging, it's advisable to rely on your warranty. Additionally, test streaming with alternative software rather than Nvidia; which streaming programs are you employing?

I'm using StreamLabs to stream to Twitch. These are the settings I've used for years.

Update time for GPU: they say it’s clean after testing. Ram fixed the issue with new sticks and a fresh Windows install. Still seeing random black and white squares on my main screen. I switched the display cable with one from another monitor, but that one goes black during a GPU reset. Could screen failure be triggering the GPU to shut down or restart its drivers? Video showing the issue repeats when I upload it.
