Hello, I have a few questions about your Black Desert Global setup. You're running an i7 6800K with 4GHz clock speed, 16GB RAM, GTX980Ti graphics at 1400/1850Mhz, and a PG248Q with 144Hz Gsync FHD internet. On a basic system, it works well for gaming, but you're experiencing low FPS in some areas—sometimes dropping to just 5 or 40 frames per second, especially in Calpheon. It's frustrating when performance isn't consistent. Any suggestions on how to improve this?
MMOs require a lot of processing power and often run on outdated DirectX 9, which lacks modern threading capabilities. This leads to performance issues when many players are active.
Not certain about everything, but it's not accurate. FFXIV works well with DX11 and performs nicely in terms of separating core and thread performance on both DX9 and 11. Many players notice this, though I’m curious which games experience FPS drops when loading entire maps filled with millions of objects. Yes, all of them. The issue is different in MMOs—hundreds or even thousands of players can be on the same map tile or area at once, leading to intense attack pressure and heavy CPU usage, which can cause frame drops. Some cases are more severe than others.
All MMOs are built on DX9 and don't allow multithreading. The issue that seems to cause FPS drops with too many players or objects is unique to MMOs. While player numbers are generally higher than in other games, I understand your perspective.
The issue isn't caused by people, that's why I'm asking. For instance: Here, I got 14 FPS and there were no one present. I adjusted the camera slightly: Boom, 50 fps... This means when I walk around, my FPS fluctuate and can drop to 5 sometimes. And occasionally, even a few minutes later at the same spot it returns to normal.
Consider updating your drivers or the game. Your friend still achieves 60fps in busy (over 100 players) zones with an i7 6700K at 4.6GHz. BDO runs on DX11 and performs better than other titles on DX9.
It's a new system this week, and I got the motherboard on Tuesday. I'm having issues only with BDO, not any other games.
smooth refers to the frame rate and location adjustments. It was better than usual this morning, heading out from Calpheon to review the auction. The camera was around 40-50 fps near the PNG, but the screen showed 30 fps while the game reported 3 fps. Screen says 50, game says 30. It's strange.
