A friend of mine uses a laptop with BitLocker enabled and encountered a lockout issue. He received a recovery key but faced problems using it. He shared the laptop and the key with me. When I tried to boot, the system displayed a black screen repeatedly. After removing the bottom and extracting the M2 drive, it worked once. Repeating the process eventually allowed access, requiring the key each time. If the laptop was shut down, it would immediately return to the black screen. I’ve been dealing with this for a few weeks and need advice or solutions. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you can return, you must back up all required information. After that, partition or format and reinstall everything. Don't try to repair a damaged BitLocker volume.

It might be possible to pause BitLocker.
You can also eliminate the encryption provided by BitLocker.

Every time I power off the laptop, it immediately restarts to the black screen, requiring me to access the M2 drive and restart from scratch. Not a bitlocker user – curious about any dependence on the CMOS battery.

I informed him I wouldn't use it. He had already acquired a new laptop and placed it there. He tends to be very cautious.

I don't understand. Neither am I a user of it. If he wants me to attempt using it again, I'll look into it. Thanks.
