Bitlocker
Bitlocker
Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick question. I might end up joking about not being able to use Google properly, but honestly I’m a bit lazy. I’ve set up BitLocker to lock my HDD on my PC, and I’m wondering if it will still be password-protected on another computer—whether it’s iOS, Windows, Linux or anything else? It’s something that could be pretty straightforward, but I’d rather have these discussions here. Thanks, Akram!
iOS powers Apple's smartphones and tablets. Mac OS X runs on Mac computers. Without proper decryption, these systems likely wouldn't function. It seems unusual for them to work this way.
Only certain operating systems can decrypt this file. The ability depends on whether the encryption uses a password and the type of drive it was stored on. For instance, a Windows 7 boot drive relies on TPM or a subkey for access, making it impossible to unlock with a password. On the other hand, all drives can be decrypted using the recovery key available in Windows OSs that support BitLocker. Let me know if you need further clarification.
It asks for a password on systems with BitLocker support. On other platforms, the drive becomes inaccessible and cannot be decrypted.
