Bit louder fan
Bit louder fan
Hey, I have an MSI 3080 gaming Z LHR with 10GB RAM. I’ve upgraded the fans, increased the voltage to 825V, but even at 60°C the fans still get loud for my taste. I ran a superposition test and at 72°C it sounds like the PC is about to crash, as shown in the video below. My guess is that the cards I bought second-hand were dusty—probably they worked a lot during their time, maybe with ASUS BIOS flashed on them. Could some dust have ended up in the fan bearings? Should I open them up and clean, lubricate with sewing oil, remove the sticker, or just apply force to open them?
I've discovered that dust

This is what I found underneath—no surprise it was loud. I plan to buy some sewing oil tomorrow; I thought I had some left, but I forgot I used them up 😁
It was functioning well based on goodwill and optimism—I guess removing the dust from the factory oil was a big plus 🙄
I'm not entirely confident about the fan or the bearings. Instead of using oil, I'd consider powdered graphic. The spring seems a bit damaged, so a replacement fan might be better than a repair. It's probably safe to try a fix, but stay alert and be prepared to swap out the fan if needed.
