Biosystem settings changed to black screen upon activating PK feature
Today I found out Valorant requires secure boot to function, so I turned it on. Then I encountered another issue—I needed to enable or download PK, but now I’m seeing a black screen. I’ve tried resetting the BIOS by shorting the CMOS, removed the CMOS battery, and even installed a mini Windows OS to test. I’m feeling stuck and don’t have much money left to fix it. Anyone have advice?
I believe your installation might have been corrupted. Never alter any settings related to the PK. The BIOS action you took could have compromised the secure boot information. Reset the BIOS to its original settings, switch it right away to UEFI without CSM, enable secure boot, ensure TPM is active, and then install Windows. You cannot just toggle secure boot on; it must be disabled first. If the OS wasn’t installed in this configuration, it won’t function properly. While it’s technically possible to change from a CSM/MBR setup to UEFI/GPT, this doesn’t guarantee secure boot will work or that TPM will be activated. Proper installation in the correct mode is essential for everything to operate correctly.
I understand. Each time I interacted with Secure Boot during a Windows setup, the system would fail to start and become damaged. Do you have information you wish to preserve on your Windows disk? Also, do you possess a backup of that data? It’s time to secure it. You might boot from a Linux Live USB or transfer files to another machine. Afterward, use a Windows installation media to wipe the drive and install Windows. Good luck!
