Hello, I haven't heard much about anyone using the Biostar B660MX or Pro models. How do they work? What's the typical CPU temperature in a non-air-conditioned space? Is there any issue with overheating? I'm looking for real feedback on both performance and temperature stability, not just specs. Thanks for your honest take.

Biostar likely has the poorest standing among any motherboard manufacturer, making it a risky choice unless you're after the absolute lowest price. What really counts on a motherboard are the VRM design and available features. Its feature set is similar to most other mid-range B660 boards, so the main concern should be the VRM. Photos I’ve seen (not my own) suggest it probably uses an 8-phase VCore with discrete MOSFETs. For a 12400F it shouldn’t draw much power, which makes the issue less severe compared to boards like the MSI B660M-A Pro that likely have more phases and better value in the US. Still, the MOSFETs aren’t a major worry here—it’s the inductors that could be problematic. BIOSTAR on the B550 line was praised for high-end power stages, but performance remains throttled due to undersized inductors. This board seems to share that issue; without it, I can’t say for sure if it causes throttling, but its VRM performance isn’t impressive. In short, focus on the VRM temperatures rather than the board itself. The 12400F draws relatively little power, so overheating should be unlikely, though the VRM setup might still be a concern. If you’re not certain, opting for another model would be wiser.

MSI B660M B Pro is quite costly among motherboards. I noticed some builds using it for i5 12600K, but that doesn’t mean it’s safe or recommended.

It’s not ideal either. Where are you looking for something, perhaps I can assist in locating a good board?

Indonesia, most of the time I only look up prices in the tokopedia or shopee, but at the end I’ll contact the seller because I’m purchasing a prebuilt.

The B660(M) Steel Legend offers decent value for its price, especially with a solid VRM setup. If you're looking to cut costs, models like the B660 DS3H or B660 Pro RS are acceptable alternatives—they may not stand out much but should work fine for the 12400.

Hello, Indonesian. I've been using this board for two months and it's working well without any issues. It pairs nicely with the I3 12100f and RX6600 for regular gaming and some rendering tasks with Lumion.
