All 400 series bards need a BIOS update to function with 3000 series CPUs. I’d stop that purchase and opt for MSI B450 Tomahawk since they support BIOS flashback via USB.

Asus has improved most of their 400 series boards to support 3000 series CPUs from the start, but some boards remain outdated. It's not possible to confirm if your board is updated until you receive it.

The suggestion regarding a board featuring BIOS flashback is valuable. Keep in mind that MSI "MAX" models come with a confirmed updated 3rd-gen BIOS.

It seems the 3000 series is likely supported now. Still, I recommend updating the BIOS once I receive it, as the current version might be outdated. In the worst case, AMD could provide a free old Athlon to help with the update, but this process would take time. It’s better to skip it if you can.

I recently installed a 3600X with a ROG Strix B-450F setup and everything functioned perfectly right away. I purchased the motherboard on Black Friday through Amazon, but the packaging didn’t specify the 3rd generation Ryzen processors or the BIOS wasn’t current.
