BioShock 1
BioShock 1
I tried BioSchock Infinite after playing BioShock 1, but found it really tough. I stopped because the difficulty felt overwhelming. I’m not sure if it’s just my skill level or if the game is genuinely challenging. I enjoy a good challenge, but sometimes I feel like I’m running out of ammo and getting caught up in the struggle.
You can skip right to Bioshock Infinite. It isn't a direct follow-up to 1 or 2. The stories in 1 and 2 are connected.
It's more challenging than typical modern shooters, but it isn't overly difficult on standard settings. Remember to collect items like corpses, cash registers, and trash cans to obtain ammo and money for upgrades. You might also consider hacking vending machines to reduce ammo costs. You can enjoy Bioshock Infinite without needing to play the original, but if you want Burial at Sea, start with Bioshock 1 first.
Bioshock 1 became straightforward once you grasp how to effectively use electric weapons, delivering powerful hits and then retreating. Much of the gameplay revolves around simple tactics like ring-around-the-rosie for quick victories. Choosing to immediately go for a kill will quickly lead you into trouble with your first Big Daddy.
It’s not overly difficult, but I believe your issue stems from the limited field of view in the game. A narrow FOV makes it tough to follow and hit enemies, and it restricts your awareness of surroundings since you lack enough peripheral details. Still, you can quickly switch to Infinite, even though Bioshock 1 offers a better experience.
Many discussions focus on how games have become increasingly accessible over time. This trend is often likened to classic titles, suggesting that even modern experiences like Bioshock might still reflect older gameplay styles. I don’t recall a major issue with this, but it’s definitely worth experiencing.
From a gameplay perspective, Bioshock 1 shines, while the story in Infinite stands out more. It’s hard to argue with its storytelling in video games.
It is a difficult game, but not impossible. Just remember to loot EVERYTHING, explore everywhere, and don't be afraid to use your plasmids. Aside from that, you don't have to play BioShock 1 and 2 in order for Infinite to make sense, as the Infinite story line is not dependent on the first two games. There are some references to the first couple games if you really explore the world of Infinite, but it's not like you're going to be lost if you just play Infinite. That being said, I think the first two games are awesome and totally worth the time if you pay attention to the story.
