Bios updates seem to be causing issues with my PC. I don't understand what's happening.
Hello, I own a B450 Tomahawk with a max 2 MBIO and a Ryzen 7 5700X. For a long time I was using BIOS Update 7C02vH4 released in September 2021. Recently I’ve faced issues with games like Elden Ring DLC, constantly crashing and needing many tips to update the BIOS. I followed those recommendations. Now with the latest BIOS 7C02vHC, my PC won’t boot and the CPU debug light is lit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Did you clear the CMOS memory after installing the BIOS update? The instructions are in your device's guide. If that doesn<|pad|>, the update might not have succeeded. You could attempt it using the BIOS flashback option (verify in your manual). Wishing you success!
You're asking about the reset process for CMOS, but you're confusing it with battery removal. It's not about taking the battery out—it's about clearing the CMOS settings to restore your BIOS. The recent update might have caused issues, so resetting the CMOS can help. If the BIOS keeps failing after updates, it's likely due to a conflict or incorrect settings, not just the update itself.
Yes, the process involves using the battery. However, it won't change your BIOS to another release; it just restores the BIOS settings back to their original defaults. You might be in luck if the newest release has fixed issues present in the current version. Consider checking if a beta version exists for your motherboard, as it could contain a resolved bug. Also, think about why you really need the newest update—if your system functions well with an older version, it’s better than being non-functional. Hope this clarifies things.
