I modified the bios on my Asus N53SM laptop to install "hacked" BIOS. Using rufus to create a freeDOS USB and restarting via USB, I ran it with the new BIOS. Everything appears normal now; the computer functions just like before. However, the Ethernet connection is still missing—WiFi works fine but not Ethernet. Updating drivers didn’t help, and downgrading the BIOS back to original settings also failed. Windows Troubleshooter didn’t resolve the issue, even after reinstalling Windows. I reinstalled Windows but still faced problems. In Device Manager, "Realtek PCie GbE Family Controller" showed the same status before and after reinstallation. I suspect my MAC address was cleared, though I lack the technical expertise to confirm. Thank you if anyone could guide me or suggest a solution. OS version: Windows 11 x64. Original OS: Windows 10. System age: 2013. BIOS installation date: 03.03.22. CPU model: I7-2670QM, Video Card: GT 630M, Manufacturer: Asus. Exact model: Asus N53SM.

Hi there, my name is Mehdi and I’m based in Tehran, Iran. I run a small computer services office for about 15 years now, and over the past few years I’ve updated more than 500 devices. One of my longest-time clients still uses the same model you mentioned. About two months ago I received his laptop (exact model: N53SM-S1180M) to upgrade its hardware and software. After just two days it was done, and ever since then I’ve been downloading the latest BIOS from the manufacturer’s site (ASUS) and performing updates. During the process I encountered a strange warning about a forced update. When I tried to reset the CMOS to restart the system, I found out something unexpected – the model number changed. It was actually an N53SV instead of an N53SM! Since I don’t have a programmer on hand, I asked my colleagues in the market, and they managed to get it back online using version 214 of the N53SV BIOS. However, when I rebuilt the laptop with a brand new SSD that had all drivers and programs installed, I noticed three devices showing a yellow indicator in Device Manager. Specifically: 1) Intel HD 3000 (code12), 2) Nvidia 630M (code31), and 3) Realtek Ethernet GBE (code10). I’m reaching out to you for the BIOS file if your GPU is still functional, and also wanted your advice on how this issue started. Sorry for my unclear English, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
