BIOS update completed but no video output detected afterward.
I bought an X9DRE-LN4F from eBay and it functioned well. I intended to install two 2667 v2 CPUs and thus had to upgrade my BIOS. I upgraded the IPMI to version 2.0 or newer and updated to the newest AMI BIOS for this model (X9DR78.713). I moved pins 2-3 on JPME1 and JPME2 as instructed. After restarting, all monitors reported that the iGPU video signal was out of range. This is unusual because my monitor is a 60Hz 1080p BenQ RL2455HM, which VGA shouldn’t saturate. The screen would flicker between a black display and an “Out of Range!” message, with no pixels or backlight visible. I tried to recover the BIOS according to the manual, but it didn’t help. The board emitted standard beep codes as before, and swapping my E5 2603 v1 for the 2667 v2 didn’t resolve the issue. I’m unsure what else to try. AMI BIOS 3.0ME.txt guide?
You're facing a tough situation. Let me try to assist. Reach out to the seller on eBay for help. Retrieve the original bios and then the updated version. Check if you can restart the system using this method: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-SUPER...1065594770. Alternatively, you can flash the bios separately off-board. @Beerzerker can provide guidance on updating a bios without the system and the necessary tools.
There is a guy that's based in the US you can get your BIOS chips from as well: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-Chip-ASROC...SwaTVZyP-W Nevermind the listing showing a different BIOS chip, the thing here is it's a link to the guy's store. What you'd need to do is send the guy a message letting him know the exact board you have by make, model and revision/version , make sure you give all this info since it does matter. He will then let you know what to do from that point onward and so on. I've used this guy several times before and in every case he's came through with a good chip. In fact, if I were you I'd see about getting a spare chip just in case this ever happens again. That way it's a matter of remove and drop the spare in - You're good to go.
