BIOS or Windows installation fails to recognize M.2 device
I've been working on this for a few days and none of the online fixes are working. I'm not keen on paying $50 to have a local repair check this out, especially since it's stopping me from giving my sister the PC. This is my Z690 Aorus Ultra Lite, a custom-built SFF system for her, and it's the final step before she can receive it. I've tried switching BIOS settings, reseating the M.2 slot, and using both PCIe lanes. The latest update (F23a) is installed, and I've added the Intel VMD drivers, but nothing has changed.
This applies to any M.2 drive or specifically the 980 Pro. The 980 Pro can run on other PCs too. Edited March 10, 2023 by Fasauceome
I hadn't considered doing that. Maybe I could set up Windows on my existing PC instead? I'm uncertain whether it would avoid any problems I'm facing right now. Still, I'll attempt to check if the M.2 slot is functioning properly. It's hard to confirm if those slots are truly dead on the Gigabyte motherboard.
Try putting the NVMe slot/PCI-E controller/chipset in Gen 3 mode . Not a good long-term fix, but may help with the troubleshooting. Also, hard to make sense of the Gigabyte model numbers... so I'm not exactly sure, but your board may have a known issue . Gigabyte's (expired) recall . Have to go through support now .
