I own the MSI Tomahawk X570 motherboard recently, which is designed to work with 5000 series CPUs running BIOS version 1.50—the newest stable release besides a beta one. After installing the 5800x, I can’t access BIOS at all; it doesn’t show up in the boot menu, and I can’t restart from Windows recovery. The system still runs, though, and the fans are running loudly. Swapping in the 3700x resolved the issue, allowing me to enter BIOS successfully. I’ve reset the CMOS battery several times, reinstalled the BIOS, updated to a beta version, downgraded to an older BIOS, and even used only one of the four RAM sticks. Nothing has fixed the problem. I’m unsure whether the CPU or the board is faulty, and I’m trying to act quickly since a replacement is almost due. Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated.

I've checked all three bios versions that are compatible.

On MSI's site, beside the CPU you'll find the BIOS that backs it in the output section: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/...upport-cpu

Did you confirm the BIOS updates? If yes, and the 5800X won’t work, it could be a DOA. Request a replacement CPU.

All updates were confirmed applied. Would a CPU problem occur if it continues to run? The only issue remaining is the bios functionality.

Could be the system is booting so fast you really don't have a chance to get in unless you spam the delete key like mad while booting. If you do that and get in, you need to change the delay value of the boot drive to a greater value so it will stop for a moment or two at the POST screen. If it's booting really fast you probrably don't see the POST screen either, just from a blank screen to the OS start screen. It's an MSI so whatever key is used to enter the BIOS, start spamming and keep spaming it like mad right when you press the system power button and see if you get in. If you do, change the boot disk delay value and you'll from that point on have a POST screen, giving you a shot at accessing it.
