Bios idle at 90°C with Ryzen 7 5800X
I received my Ryzen 7 5800X today via mail to swap it in for the old 3600. I opened the case, installed the new CPU with fresh thermal paste, and set up the AIO cooler (Cooler Master ML240L V2 RGB). After turning it on, the fans started at full speed and temperatures stabilized around 90°C. I've repeated the process of reseating the CPU and cooler, updated the BIOS, but still face issues—sometimes I can't even boot Windows because of a CPU temperature warning. Need assistance quickly!
The Ryzen 5800X needs a BIOS upgrade for optimal performance. It won’t function properly without one, even on compatible boards like X570 and B550. This update is only necessary if your motherboard was released after the 5000-series launch. Could you tell me what board you have? I’ll need more details about your system specs.
AMD's thermal paste likely isn't top-notch; consider using a higher-quality alternative. You might also want to inspect the AIO, ensuring all connections are secure—there could be an issue with the pump itself. I have the identical CPU and it stays cool, so something might be different.
I'm working with a ROG STRIX X570-f motherboard that has been updated to the newest BIOS version.
Yes, you removed the residual thermal paste from the AIO coldplate.
