Hello, I'm facing a problem I can't resolve. My hard drive was functioning perfectly during my first build, but after upgrading, it stopped showing in the BIOS entirely. All other drives worked fine, and I'm worried the drive might have failed due to the upgrade. I switched from an Asrock B560 to a modular Corsair Z790 PG Lightning board. I've experimented with various SATA cables, ports, and BIOS settings, but nothing seems to help. It's frustrating—I feel like it might be dead now. Could anyone offer advice or solutions? Thank you.

Please verify that all ports are connected. Check the power and SATA connections at both ends, confirming they are active and properly attached to the motherboard.

It's not typical for an HDD to fail this way, though I've noticed some users reporting a broken tab allowing SATA and power cables to be connected upside down. Please verify all connections are secure. Could you confirm whether the platters start rotating when the PC is powered on?

I can verify that they are, though I don’t understand why it’s failing. The other drives function smoothly, but this one isn’t working.

All devices are connected. When I power on my PC, the only sound is a rush of air, and there’s no other noise afterward.

Power appears to be coming on. I’d consider testing it in another setup.

I've tested various SATA cables and ports, but nothing works. Yet, when paired with other drives, everything functions properly. Might the power supply unit be the issue?

Sure, I'll attempt it in your previous system and check the outcome.

This suggestion looks promising if it functions on the older setup. You can proceed with resolving issues on the newer system afterward. Otherwise, it seems like things might not go as expected.

Ugh, I tried going back to my previous setup but it didn’t work. Please let me know it’s alive again. All this was about upgrading the system.
