I had Windows 10 2015 on my PC and was playing Fortnite at over 300 FPS, but still experienced frame drops. I upgraded to the latest version and could only reach around 240-270 FPS with the same settings. I installed all the newest drivers, only the recommended ones, but the issue persisted. My problem is with sudden frame drops—even when I start the game or jump out of the bus, it drops again, then stabilizes. This happens every time and it’s frustrating. I play new games at 150+ FPS on high settings, but still face those drops. Please help me.

The updated version of Windows includes Spectre/meltdown improvements that didn’t significantly affect AMD’s performance. I’ve looked through various sources but haven’t found clear explanations for the drop in speed. It seems the latest Windows 10 might be consuming more of your memory. If you have a single channel of 8GB RAM, upgrading to 16GB (double the amount) would be advisable. The most demanding part of the game is starting from the bus, which causes frame drops until you reach a stable frame rate. Achieving only 240fps is comparable to trying to run a 5-minute mile—any frame rate higher than your monitor’s refresh rate doesn’t matter.

It's due to the fact that using dual channel memory doubles the effective memory bandwidth for your chip. This enables it to obtain the necessary data more quickly and transmit it efficiently. Most Ryzen processors are built with two CPUs on a single die, utilizing memory for communication between them. Your 2400g differs in this regard.

Why are you trying to exceed 60 fps on a 60Hz screen? You're right, any frame rate above 60 won't be visible unless you use a monitor with higher refresh rate, such as a 144Hz display. Stick to 60 fps and stop until you have a monitor that supports more Hz.

And by the way, the frame drops you're seeing in Fortnite are typical after recent updates. They've been happening for weeks now.

These frame reductions will continue in Fortnite even if you cap your FPS at 60, but until you upgrade to a 144Hz monitor, it makes no sense to push more than 60 frames per second on a 60Hz display.
