Bicycle bearing grease as TIM
Bicycle bearing grease as TIM
Haha, why not use a steak while you're at it!
No way! (Don't attempt this at home)
Crisco made from vegetables could be a better option. That way, you can actually fry an egg in it, lol. It seems like you're not taking it seriously.
I've consistently enjoyed ice cream. It's useful for achieving temperatures lower than the surrounding air.
Can I use bicycle bearing grease (Teflon based) as a Thermal Interface Compound?
I need to know if it's safe.
If it can handle temperatures up to 100°C, it should work. I've used dark blue lithium grease in the past for commercial builds—it didn’t perform well, stayed wet, and didn’t transfer heat effectively.
Crashman:
If it can handle 100C heat resistance it should work. I used dark blue lithium "general purpose grease" in the past for commercial builds, but it didn’t run properly—it never fully dried and transferred heat well.
Hi there, I’m curious if this thread might help with my temperature issue. I have an e5200 OCD running at 3003 MHz with an Asus V Nardo cooler and the original thermal grease. My CPU temps hit around 60-62°C during a one-hour linpack test. After switching to an aftermarket grease (locally made in the Philippines, nano silver tech), they reached 72-73°C. I’ve mounted the cooler several times now, but still struggle with temperatures. Could it be the CPU or the heat sink? I don’t have access to a good store for quality thermal grease, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi there, sir. I was thinking about using this thread to address my temperature issue. I have an e5200 OCD running at 3003 MHz with an Asus V Nardo cooler and the original thermal grease. My CPU temperatures were around 60-62°C during a one-hour Linpack test. After switching to an aftermarket grease (locally made in the Philippines, nano silver tech), they rose to 72-73°C. I’ve mounted the cooler properly multiple times, but the temps still aren’t ideal. Should I be worried about my CPU or the heatsink? I don’t have access to a good store for better grease, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
