When playing BF4 with Mantle turned on, my game experiences significant stutters lasting between 0.5 seconds to 5 seconds, especially when I'm about to shoot. This issue doesn’t occur with DX11. My system details are: CPU FX 4100 at 4.2GHz, GPU R9 280X OC, 8GB RAM running at 1333Hz, a 2TB WD green HDD. I’ve already unparked the CPU but the problem persists. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I nearly match the specifications (verified signature) and I’m experiencing similar issues too. Occasionally, not consistently—just certain matches. Oddly enough, I get higher FPS with Mantle.

Check for CPU limitations. Review the steps in your previous post: Launch Windows Task Manager (search it in the start menu or press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and open from the security screen). If any of your CPU cores reach 100% during gameplay, you likely have a bottleneck. A complete blockage indicates a full limitation. (It’s actually more involved but understandable.) Navigate to the Performance tab. Observe the graph—if one core hits 100%, it signals a wall limit. If all cores are at 100%, it confirms a total bottleneck. (This helps you and yourself determine if there’s an issue.) In the Processes tab, locate BF4.exe and other background tasks. Notice how much CPU time BF4 consumes. For example, if it uses 70% while your CPU is at 90%, that suggests other processes are using the remaining 20%. If you need higher frame rates and suspect performance issues, consider closing unnecessary programs like outdated software or spyware. Terminate unused applications or restart your system to free up resources. Using services like Teamspeak with unencrypted channels can reduce CPU usage significantly (2-3% down to 0-1%). Avoid Skype if possible, as it’s outdated technology compared to modern systems.

I'm using the same CPU I had before, around 4.2GHz. The stutter disappeared once I installed the FX 8320.

The newest update contains memory leaks that cause random delays, falling frames, and stuttering. A reboot before playing can ease the problem.

The most recent update is available, though it might be linked to your irregular RMA activity while playing BF4. Sometimes the antivirus reacts immediately, followed by the game crashing.

The Dragons Teeth update in July. I’m facing this issue each time I try to play after the PC has been running all day without restarting.
