BF4 crashes because of an overclocked CPU.
The issue might be linked to your OC settings or system stability. After increasing your CPU to 4.6GHz, the crash occurred, but reverting to your original 4.2OC worked. Running an i5 3570K could help identify if the problem is specific to that model or more related to the overclock itself.
It seems like this might be an original character. I've noticed crashes from CPU issues and GPU problems before. If it works without the extra 400 MHz, stick with the 4.2 setting.
Ah yeah I remember when I ran my sli 460s oc'd for BF3, it'd start crashing... I don't think it was the gpu though this time since it was only my CPU that was overclocked this time... Its actually the first time a game has crashed for me due to CPU oc. Though i have to take into account this is the first time I've played a game on that given oc.... <_< Its ok at the 4.2, but when I was playing multiplayer it'd sometimes randomly drop frame rates and when I checked my cpu usage it would always be at 100% at those times so I'm worrying my cpu could actually be holding my gpu back.... for the short times I was able to run my 4.6 oc, it never dropped fps. Sadly, it probably is causing my game to crash instead My temps actually seemed fine. They hovered in the mid to high 60's which I think is pretty reasonable. Is it possibly a sign that my oc is unstable? I did just do it today...
You performed stability checks on your build. Your i5 3570K ran smoothly at 4.5, though 4.6 caused problems during Prime 95 and Intel Burn Test runs. BF4 has been causing crashes lately, so you might want to reduce your overclocking next time. You haven’t experienced issues before, so it wasn’t the original concern.
It seems the COD application is freezing and needs a logout before it can start again. Your current specs are solid—4.6GHz clock, stable at 4.0—but the p95 performance was fine. Switching back to your original stock clocks might resolve the issue.
I performed a stability check for the 4.6 MHz, but limited it to one hour because of time constraints. It appeared stable overall. I only increased the frequency to 4.6 GHz and it has worked well so far. Now I regularly use 4.5 GHz, and it hasn't caused any issues. Since COD AW is still evolving, I'm unsure if everyone fully grasps the challenges of overclocking. You might want to test with standard clocks instead. Some titles block overclocks entirely, while others remain stable even after long testing sessions.
You're unsure, right? Did you create a separate thread for this issue?
