I recently got BF1 and have found it quite enjoyable so far, though it can feel a bit choppy at times, as if it was still in development. I’m curious how players are receiving the new Battlefield version. It appears they made some questionable choices. Would you like me to load it for you? If you want to disconnect from the server, I can set a 5-minute delay. This system is running on an SSD, which is fine, but it’s not ideal. On average, an I7 processor uses around 70% CPU during gameplay. That’s manageable, but at full load it causes freezing. This isn’t something I’ve seen in other titles. The Origin overlay is essential for multiplayer, though it’s a bit inefficient, using only about 5% CPU while playing. It seems the development team rushed Battlefield 1, with poor balance and optimization. Personally, I think this might just be my experience.
Currently there remain challenges with exiting and transitions between matches. I’m counting on the upcoming patch this month to finally fix it. I don’t see the game as poorly optimized since the Dice/EA servers struggle to connect with Origin. Even on my older setup with a GTX 760, I managed around 60 fps at ultra settings, which isn’t bad. When I consider “poorly optimized,” I’m thinking of many Ubisoft titles such as The Division or WatchDogs 1/2 where performance is limited by outdated rendering methods originally built for consoles and then adapted for porting.
It's an EA dice game, right? What were you anticipating? Still, you're correct. You interact with anything in the game and question what's going on—why does this feel so off? Why was this idea conceived? Why does it behave like this? This design is confusing, and it doesn't make sense. I'd also appreciate seeing stable 60Hz servers without those low update rate grenades and laggy air vehicles. I hope the Origin overlay opens and closes every time I press Shift+F1 consistently, not just occasionally. A solid progression system would be welcome, especially compared to what came before. But honestly, what can you realistically expect from a developer working under an AAA publisher like EA? It could still be worse. Ubisoft.
I just posted my own message in the forum... It's really frustrating when your equipment isn't top-notch and you're only getting about 30 to 40 frames per second.
Luckily I’m not alone in this. I haven’t encountered any games that are too demanding. It would be a shame if Battlefield damaged my system. You noticed the low settings—lower ones didn’t affect my frame rate much, almost like a CPU issue. I really like having background videos running in games, something I can’t do in BF1. The Sinai Desert level is quite heavy, but it doesn’t look that visually striking.
I've had a few issues where freezing/stuttering occurs for around 10-40 seconds, very rare (maybe 3 or 4 times now and I've got around 60 hours in game) Lots of small issues with the UI for both origin and BF. Not intuitive at all. Why have the option to see friends and invite them on screen but 80% of the time can't join on them whilst theyre already in game, because the option doesn't show. (I know shift, F1, but why have the option available in the first place?), and if there's a que, can't they say where in the que you are? When it says 'a friend is playing would you like to join them?'... and they had actually joined You! It takes you out the game to reload same map/server you were already in. So there are a lot of problems, they're not fully listed here but meh. I like the game. Most of my gripes aren't with the game itself. Think the game is great though.
I've never faced problems with insufficient RAM during this system's two-year life, and I've kept an eye on it even in BF1.
When the game runs smoothly, it becomes quite enjoyable. I believed I had finished exploring FPS titles, yet my friends were eager to try this one. I've liked the experience even solo. A few aspects feel off—maybe I haven't read enough about features. For example, sniping and bullets consistently drop slightly leftward... I get that direction, but why the left?
