Your current setup struggles with stutters in most games, likely due to RAM limitations. For better performance, go with 16 GB if possible. It's worth noting that the count of DIMM slots isn't related to whether dual-channel is enabled. The channel count reflects the memory controller's capabilities and its parallel usage, not the number of slots you possess. You can still operate in dual-channel mode even with four RAM sticks.

Are you certain everything functions properly because of the limited RAM? What’s your RAM consumption? Using dual channels would help a lot. Your CPU can handle it, and the motherboard should support it as well.

It's not about how many ranks each part has, but overall rank across channels. For example, one dual-rank module per channel works the same as two single-rank modules if everything else matches. Theoretically there might be a difference since rank and 2DPC timing can vary, but in practice it seems consistent.
