Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3:
Ryzen 5500u with Vega 7 onboard graphics
8GB RAM (4GB x 2)
256GB SSD
15.6" FHD Display
or
Lenovo V15
Athlon Gold 3150 CPU
20GB RAM (4GB + 16GB)
512GB SSD
15.6" Display
Which one suits productivity, video editing, schoolwork, and rendering best?

processor-wise the 5500u stands out a lot. (6cores/12 threads compared to 2/4) GPU-wise the 5500u uses vega7 while the 3150 uses vega3 (7 gpu cores versus 3). I rate the 500u as the obvious winner.

Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 features six cores while the other model has only two, making it easy to spot. It's also interesting how the second laptop includes a 4GB and a 16GB stick. Check it out:

I was also surprised by the price range on the v15, but after learning that the Ryzen 5500u is a newly released Ryzen 5 mobile APU with six cores, I realized it was the obvious choice. I wrote this post just to reassure myself, because in my local online store they both seem almost the same. As for the RAM, I wouldn't be surprised either, since it's mentioned there.
