Best "Total War" Game?
Best "Total War" Game?
I enjoy RTS titles and general strategy games. I'm weighing whether to buy TW: Rome for just $4.99, or explore another TW game under $20 if it doesn't meet expectations. Are these experiences similar in terms of skins or time periods? Have you had a chance playing them?
I really enjoy the original Rome, even though the graphics and unit management aren’t as polished now. It’s definitely worth purchasing, though I suspect I bought it for around £2 because it was a used copy. There are also some decent mods available, which I haven’t tested yet but could try later.
I’m going to dive into this messy game and say Rome 2 is on sale with some DLC, all the newest updates, and a few workshop mods—definitely the best total war I’ve played. A lot of folks criticized it when it launched, but now it’s fixed and affordable, and based on my experience (about 200 hours), it’s totally worth it. Attila works, but somehow it just doesn’t hit the mark compared to the others.
Rome 2 is acceptable but falls short in my opinion. I believe they had more potential. The original Rome Total War remains excellent, as does Empire Total War, even with many negative reviews. Still, Shogun 2 stands out to me—great graphics, varied units, solid controls, and engaging gameplay.
Many are excellent, I really enjoyed the Empire game, though anything will be enjoyable. Look at Darth Mod for them.
Shogun 2 performs well in Rome, though it lacks content from Shogun.
Rome, Medieval 2, and Shogun 2 are the top picks you should consider.
