Hello, I've been using this ASUS N53 for some time, but lately its internet speed has dropped to around 73Mbps. My download is about 250Mbps, and I'm trying to upgrade my Wi-Fi card to something better that won't overheat. Since my gaming PC acts as a media server when idle, I need a faster connection without using a powerline adapter. The router is a Netgear AC3200 R8000, which supports AC Wi-Fi. I'm considering an AC56 but not sure about its performance on networks above 200Mbps. Could someone share their experience with similar setups?

The ASUS PCE-AC56 handles 1.3Gbps per second. I've heard someone using the Asus PCE-AC68 and it performs well even over longer distances from the router, so the AC56 should work just as well.

Started with an ASUS AC87U that failed, so I swapped it for a Netgear R8000. Right away, my wireless speed dropped about 10%. I tested two adapters—a TP link internal and a Netgear USB—and both performed well compared to the old router. After ten months with the Netgear R8000, I finally gave it a hard time and managed to fix it completely. Now I’m running smoothly with an ASUS AC86U after a tough period.

my router loses most of its speed on the N band. The main problem is overheating after about a week of use. I suspect Directv is reserving 10 i.p each day and not removing old entries, which causes the Netgear router to show a wide range of connected devices (with a minus sign). I contacted Directv, who explained they reserve IP addresses for other boxes since they act like a Wi-Fi hotspot, then pass those numbers to our router. They never spoke to me directly. Everything else works except live TV, which is fully online. My Netgear router is nearly a year old and has only minor issues—just a weekly reboot fixes them. The Netgear modem is now dropping speed by half after two weeks. Thanks for confirming.

I own the T8E and as mentioned, I experienced a 10% drop in wireless performance right from the start.
