Provided a slight enhancement on my other laptop (a Celeron with stronger specs). Performance felt faster, especially during navigation. CPU usage decreased overall in High Contrast mode. Uncertain if this works for my own setup since I’m trying to upgrade. Screenshots of TSKMNG included.
Each GUI offers unique benefits, but none clearly surpass the others in overall performance or user experience.
Mainly looks are the focus. I lean toward GNOME instead of Cinnamon, especially when using Mint. I try to stick with that if possible, though... honestly, my previous Mint setup wasn’t very reliable, so... yeah.
This version is derived from Windows XP and remains compatible through 2019, though a fresh installation is required.
Hi there. My Acer AS1410 is still running Windows 7 premium home 32-bit, and it functions fine for simple tasks. I've been attempting to set up Windows 10 but keep encountering issues. The installation often reaches the final stage and then reverts to the prior version, displaying the error code 0xC1900101-0x40017 during the SECOND_BOOT phase with a BOOT operation failure. According to Dell's guidance, this issue usually stems from faulty video drivers. I verified my drivers and noticed they haven't been updated since October 2009, and Intel has stated they won't release updates for that hardware. This makes me wonder how you managed to get Windows 10 installed. What version were you using? Also, do you prefer an OS like Mint 17.2 Cinnamon for older devices?
