Best OS for Old PC
I don't support the idea of labeling systems that depend on outdated hardware like 1970s Teletypes as modern operating systems.
Installing Linux on an old laptop from 2012 is challenging. With only 4GB RAM and a slow i5-quad core, lighter distributions like Lubuntu, Mint, or Ubuntu would be better options. Pick a desktop environment thoughtfully rather than just a distro.
I recently experienced the same issue—received an outdated laptop with an i7 620MHz and just 2GB RAM, running Windows 10, but it was completely nonfunctional. I found some advice on a forum and managed to switch it to a Manjaro distribution, which significantly improved its performance. Now I’m quite satisfied with Manjaro so far. Pop OS is fine, but I’m really pleased with what I’ve set up.
