I believe your edge comes from the SSD. Typically, an SSD-enabled system runs more efficiently. My machine is using an HD, so I didn’t upgrade. It works adequately without one. The only noticeable issue is with Windows, which feels a bit sluggish. PopOS, however, performs just well.

OP didn't reference touchscreens, which I couldn't locate. You might want to create a separate discussion or search for alternatives that support touch interfaces. According to what I know, Ubuntu and its derivatives appear to work well with them.

Avoid Linux distributions at all costs. They're overly bloated. Switch to BSD, like OpenBSD.
