This CPU isn't too slow (just one core at 1.6 GHz), but the main issue is how much RAM you have. Lubuntu supports up to 384MB, which is great if you have more than that.

Another friend owned a device running this setup. It performed exceptionally well on Windows 8. Unfortunately, it remains more demanding than Ubuntu. He plans to boost the RAM to 2GB and switch to an SSD rather than a traditional hard drive.
