Lastly, a solid operating system. I installed Elementary OS and it runs smoothly on my $25 machine. Thanks for the assistance! Note: I didn’t choose Ubuntu because it frequently freezes every half hour. That’s why I stopped. Marked resolved. Post by @ JelleDekkers

Linux is the best choice. To boost performance further, consider switching to Lubuntu or Xubuntu, which offer lightweight desktop environments.
