Hi there. I passed by a garage sale close to my home and felt compelled to check it out. The seller had monitors, speakers, mice (the classic ball type), keyboards (old IBM models with clicky keys) and more items. I saw an old computer listed for $25 and couldn’t resist purchasing it. I’m looking for free or affordable operating systems that handle everyday tasks like web browsing and document writing.

Specs: CPU – Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz; RAM – 4GB Kingston DDR2; Motherboard – unknown brand, only serial number available; GPU – NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250; HDD – 40GB Maxtor HDD ODD, white MSI disc drive, 52x speed.

You have a selection of 7 or XP as the optimal option for your Windows setup.

This device is quite an affordable option, just $25. I suggest trying Ubuntu or Elementary OS.

It's a good deal at $25. It could also serve as a file server.
