Best OS for a game server?

I want to create a game server for Valve titles such as TF2 and GMOD. I’m not sure which operating system works best. Would Windows or Linux be more suitable? I’m just starting out with this setup. My current hardware is an AMD Phenom 840 Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 with 16 GB DDR3 RAM.

It doesn't really matter at all, just switch to Linux if you're mainly working with servers and you have five hours free. Otherwise, Windows might be simpler to set up and fix.
