I usually experience 4/4 or 5/5 bars from my internet to other devices. But as I move further away, the connection weakens significantly. Anyone have suggestions? I’m looking for a NETGEAR product available on Amazon that can improve signal strength. I need to return my NETGEAR AC1200 because it broke me. It suggested updating the firmware via the browser, so I clicked update or something, and now it’s flashing a green light. I checked what the green light means—it indicates a bricked device or an error. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps through NETGEAR support, Google, YouTube, but it still doesn’t work.

Yes, I can guide you through running an Ethernet cable to the access point.

I mean I can, but the previous time I went into the attic trying to handle internet tasks I slipped through the messy area, so probably a wireless connection?

It's unusual, but with a 1Gbps connection, you'd need an extender that meets that speed requirement.

Consider the impact of employing a WiFi extender without a separate backhaul system, as mesh kits function this way. It could actually reduce your connectivity instead of improving it. For optimal results, wiring it directly is strongly advised.

These plug-in gadgets are ineffective because they can't be placed for ideal signal capture and with an internal power source nearby creates strong EMI interference near the WiFi components. For better results, connect the repeater to the primary device on one radio while broadcasting a separate second radio—this avoids the speed reduction caused by repeating on the same channel.
