I configured AdGuard Home for my home and liked it. My mom is a classic PC user who gets those "your PC has virus" alerts, so she’d benefit from this. I own an older Lenovo ThinkCenter that’s more than enough for the job. Since no one in my mom’s house could use a NAS, I won’t install TrueNAS Core with the plugin. I just need a simple, user-friendly distro to set it up. I’m leaning toward FreeBSD instead of Ubuntu Server because it’s lighter and easier to manage. I was considering Ubuntu Server but thought it might be too heavy for this task. I also want to add OpenVPN so I can remotely access the network when away. Updated April 3, 2022 by HeroRareheart
