Best music streaming service
I don't believe any single service excels in all areas. I usually manage multiple options. I rely on Pandora for background listening, last.fm for suggestions, Spotify for new tracks, and YouTube for discovering content. I also track my playlists with Rate Your Music. Personally, Spotify stands out as the top choice. Mainly because it supports queuing entire albums and works smoothly with other platforms even without a subscription. With a paid plan they enhance ad removal, boost audio quality, and expand device compatibility.
I rely on Spotify as my primary platform, but occasionally switch to Google Music for backup and streaming from my local library to my phone. When I’m at home, I use iTunes alongside iTunes Match setup. Recently, I’ve begun using Plex on my home server to distribute music across devices—potentially pausing my Spotify subscription.
I rely solely on TuneIn. It works well when you discover stations with few ads.
Xbox Music offers a free version with ads for Windows 8 users. A 30-day trial is available. Pricing is $100 annually or $9.99 per month. You don’t need to create playlists or limit skips. It provides unlimited music streaming without ads, unlimited downloads across devices including Android, iOS, Windows, and Windows Phone 7/8, and supports the desktop Zune app for Windows XP and newer versions. Accessible via the XBox Music website using HTML5, it works with all major browsers. I own it and find it useful.
