I just upgraded my graphics card from 2060 to 2080 Super. I still have my old 2600 on a ROG Strix B450 F. I'm searching for a 3600X or 3700X to replace it, but many people discuss VRMs without fully understanding them. Should my ROG Strix B450 F still work with a 3700X, or should I switch to a 3600X instead? Or is it better to get a new motherboard and CPU? Thanks!

You won't be able to push it beyond its limits, but it should function properly at its default settings. Don't forget to refresh the BIOS before adding the new processor.

It will perform well for a 3700X at regular speeds.

It depends on what you're looking for, but I'm not too keen on overclocking yet. If it runs smoothly at stock settings, it should be okay. For the 3700X versus 3600X, I’d need to know your specific needs—like performance goals or budget—to give a better suggestion. Your 2080 Super setup is a good base, so you’re unlikely to hit a bottleneck unless you push it hard.

For just playing the 3600, it could suffice, but if you can afford it, the 3700X is also a solid option. Upcoming games may utilize its 8C/16T more effectively thanks to the next-gen consoles' capabilities (8C/16T Zen 2 CPUs).

Any crap board can handle that CPU since it's a 65W unit.

It's accurate. Regarding your power supply, it seems unnecessary unless you're planning a significant upgrade. Your current setup is an EVGA 80+ Gold 650W semi-mod, and the 3700X shouldn't require much more voltage. You're aiming to make informed choices before buying.
