Hey there! Thanks for reaching out and helping me out—it means a lot. I was looking for the top Linux distribution suited for everyday tasks, gaming, and content creation. Since October is coming up and I might switch platforms, I’m curious about the best options. I tried SteamOS on a Steam Deck and also have Bazzite set up on my home PC. I noticed it often deletes the D drive during restarts, which is a bit frustrating. If anyone has suggestions or alternatives that could fix this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks ahead! GGs

This depends a lot on individual tastes. If you asked 100 Linux enthusiasts this, you'd likely receive many varied responses. Generally, newer distributions tend to perform better, making Arch and its variants like Manjaro excellent choices. However, some users enjoy running on Debian, which is one of the older distributions, so it shouldn't be considered essential.

Choosing the ideal Linux distribution depends on personal preference. Experiment with various options and select the one that suits you best. For KDE users, enabling Disk Automount in settings should work if your distribution correctly sets up polkit—any files stored in Dolphin will remain accessible for your user. Otherwise, you can establish a permanent system-wide mount using GNOME Disks or KDE Partition Manager and add it to fstab.

It's a bit of a hassle, so I'm not sure if it's similar to Steam where you can't change anything and it restarts every time

You're looking for a gaming and content creation setup, not a general-purpose machine. Let me know if you'd like suggestions!

This remains subjective, relying on personal perspective. The biggest influence likely comes from your hardware, which varies by brand and age.

Consider trying Linux Mint—it's user-friendly, suitable for gaming, and offers automount functionality.

CellOS isn't a standard distribution and isn't widely supported on typical PCs. The idea that it's technically FreeDSB is misleading, as it doesn't function well in that environment. So the answer remains that such a setup doesn't exist yet.

The hardware needs to be compatible with older distributions for most setups. For the newest drivers, consider Arch or Fedora with Bazzite; be mindful that Fedora can break codecs on AMD. Flatpak should handle the codec problems, and it will remain your package format on Bazzite since it's fixed.
