That's straightforward. The Metacritic page shows only one title with a 90+ rating in 2021. It looks like Chicory improved slightly, moving from 89 to 90. There were a few others in 2020, but the total remains low—around six games overall. Don't rely on a single score; consider what kind of game you enjoy before judging its quality.

Death's Door sits at 91. However, don't rely solely on Metacritic. @hddtosdd suggests choosing games by thoroughly reading reviews and watching gameplay videos rather than trusting a single number that summarizes many people's subjective opinions. For instance, one reviewer might dislike grinding, giving the game a low score like 1/5, while another enthusiast might love grinding for hours and rate it 5/5. Metacritic combines these two views into an average, but it doesn't reveal why someone disliked or enjoyed the mechanic. Meaningful insights require deeper research beyond the aggregate score. This is just a basic example to highlight the importance of personal evaluation over generalized ratings.

They told me 86? I think we’re experiencing different things for a reason. Metacritic is definitely one of the top platforms that matches what was asked, covering all major rating sites.

The issue with the question is clear, similar to many "best" queries.
