I play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege and recently noticed I've been missing shots because of my high DPI. My room is quite cold, which makes my hands shake and affect my accuracy. I have a sensitivity setting of 50 and a poll rate of 1000Hz. I'm using a Razer Firefly mousepad, so I'm considering lowering the DPI and sensitivity to improve my performance. My questions are: is 1800 DPI suitable for a 1440p display? Should I change my mousepad to something larger if I reduce the DPI? Do anyone have advice on adapting to these changes? I don’t want to struggle too much if I can’t keep up.

I set the resolution to 400 dpi and sensitivity to 1.82 in CSGO. I play at 1080p, but I prefer a lower sensitivity than most players.

I assume what works for you is the optimal setting since high DPI can cause missed shots if too high. Lower it gradually until accuracy improves. For Siege, you don’t need overly precise adjustments—standard settings should suffice for effective hits.

I'm a bit unusual with OS settings. I use 1200DPI on my 1440p ultrawide. During Rainbow Six Siege I was sticking to the same 1200dpi and 10 for aiming, and 20 for down sights. It functioned fine, but I should take some time to adjust it properly.

In the summer I perform headshots effortlessly. During winter, my hands become extremely cold and I start to shake. That’s why I’m aiming for lower sensitivity so my results stay consistent throughout the year. My room stays warm, but I have poor circulation in my hands and my computer is near a window.

I typically shoot at 400dpi for FPS. My main FPS is CS:GO at 400dpi with a 1.7sens setting, gradually lowering my in-game sens over time.

It can feel frustrating needing to shift your mouse frequently.

Completely different, just think you have more influence. No slipping by others. Everyone I've talked to about this on CS:GO (Faceit, ESEA, MM) all agree 400dpi max, not more than 800dpi.

The number 1.82 isn't low, but 1.6 is. That's the approach I take.

Lower your DPI, maintain a polling rate of 1000. Use a larger mouse pad. Which mouse are you employing?
