I recently chose to replace and modify the motherboard for my old PC. It runs a Ryzen 1500X with the original cooler. When I took it off, the cooler came out with the CPU still connected. After inspecting all the pins, I found no damage or missing connections—this is normal and shouldn’t cause problems. Once I removed the CPU from the cooler, it flipped and fell. I noticed one pin bent at about a 75-degree angle, which is noticeable but not severe. I managed to straighten it, and now it fits snugly in the socket. It’s currently only off by 1–3 degrees. Since I haven’t booted yet, I’m planning to build it tomorrow. Could this bent pin affect future operation?
You won’t understand until it starts up, but it seems okay. Looks like you were really lucky.
As long as all the connections stay solid in the socket, the device will function normally. My previous 2700X handled bent pins temporarily (it fell from a cooler and bent the lower three rows), but it never caused any problems.
Really glad you found the answer, but it's pretty unusual for just one bent pin to occur. I'll keep this discussion updated in case anyone wants to check if it works properly.
