I purchased the Steam Link and have been conducting some tests on it. The initial impressions are positive. I aim to explore its capabilities further, focusing on picture quality, performance, and especially latency. Batman: Arkham Knight was my first test case, but I opted against it due to frequent stuttering, which I suspect stems from my CPU or RAM being overwhelmed. This testing is done locally, even with a controller connected, and I notice a noticeable delay between my input and the display response—something less common in other games. Looking for suggestions on other titles? First impressions are available here:

I don't think I'll play CS:GO because it feels too intense. GTA V seems like a solid choice now. A racing game would also work well, maybe DiRT 3 or DiRT Rally. I don’t own Mad Max, but I might consider getting it. Rocket League could serve as my latency test. So: GTA V with DiRT 3/Rally, Rocket League for benchmarks, and Mad Max if I want more options. Any other suggestions?

I mentioned CSGO to test its performance with the Steam Link:3 Well, aside from that, it wasn't really necessary.

I'm still weighing my options regarding CS:GO, mainly because the Steam Link concept feels more suited for couch gaming. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it, but I'd definitely avoid anything that relies heavily on latency. Would you consider other offline titles? Super Meat Boy seems like a solid alternative.

Super Meat Boy for checking lag, Trine 2 for color testing, Serious Sam HD for the second run, aiming at the final level on Serious setting.

I’d prefer a review of the Steam Link over Linus’ Steam Machines. I think I’ll settle for something more comfortable on my couch. For testing, I’ll focus on games that suit casual play.

It seems to be a mixed take on the games. I think Super Meat Boy is a solid choice, but I’m hesitant about Trine 2 due to the poor color quality on the lounge TV. I’d need a better display before diving in. If the screen was sharp and high-end, it would make more sense. Serious Sam HD is intriguing—definitely worth considering. Steam Link works best for those with good gaming setups, which matches your setup. Couch-friendly titles are a solid idea. I don’t have a Steam controller myself; I use my PS4 controller instead.
