PFSense/BSD typically supports Intel NICs not explicitly listed in the official hardware list. Included chips like 82540-82580 should run without issues, but unspecified devices may cause problems. If a chip fits within a general supported range, it’s likely to work.

You can include additional drivers for BSD. Initially, I needed to install drivers for my network card after setting up the first TrueNAS core box on BSD. I then searched online and found a helpful article.
