Welcome to the Forums! Form my knowledge you can't since that's a fairly high priority option that you need especially if you need to change what program that it defaults to or select a program for it.
I understand your situation. You need a workaround since the photo app isn’t functioning and you don’t want to use paint. There’s no clear solution online, but you might explore registry tweaks or alternative methods if you’re comfortable with that.
Oh ok I was assuming you want to take out the whole thing, check this it seems to have a pretty good guide on it but requires editing the registry: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/18119/rem...-explorer/
The article explains how to delete default Windows items using the context menu in Open with.
It seems you're unsure about a specific step, but I'm here to help clarify or adjust it for you.
Did you create the registry record using: 1. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\...\... or 2. HKU\SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\...\...? I often notice the current user's registry is incomplete, but checking the SID reveals your details and the solution will remain effective. You can also share this fix with other accounts. Remember to log out of the account you're editing before the changes take effect (or if it's a local machine setting). When you navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.<extension>, expect multiple sub-keys (a,b,c,d, etc.) linked to the open context menu. Removing all of them will alter the menu behavior so it prompts for an application instead of opening a new sub-menu.
