Do you have XPlane 11 available? It offers better value and lower cost compared to P3D and others. What are your system specifications? Note that XPlane is currently optimized for NVidia with fewer cores but higher performance.

I operated a CH FlightSim yoke paired with pedals. Now I stick to the pedals without using the yoke. For XPlane 11 I rely on a Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog flight stick and throttle.

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. I haven’t played Xplane 11 yet. I have a GTX 1660 Ti, an i7-6700K, and 16GB RAM. It would really help if you could let me know whether I should be able to handle the game. Also, when you say "it is better (and cheaper to start) than P3D and the rest," do you mean Xplane 11 is more affordable and performs better at launch? Thanks in advance!

It varies based on your preferences. Are you aiming for realism or do you have experience with aircraft? Also, what monitor are you using? Generally, P3D needs significant investment (many add-ons) to achieve a polished look, whereas Xplane already provides a good appearance without extra costs. Xplane also offers a high-quality free aircraft model like Zibo 737 at a level of detail comparable to a £40 price tag.

Sure thing! I appreciate the info. I’m aiming for realistic settings but have limited knowledge about planes. I’d love to learn more. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. Can you say whether I’ll be able to keep good performance with higher graphics while still having a solid frame rate? Also, what budget-friendly yoke and pedal set would you suggest? Thanks!

you'll be more than fine. By Xplane standards. Xplane has never, in its history run above 50 fps on any system and do not be unhappy if you get 25 -35 fps. That's great! I don't recommend a yoke for beginners as there is more to learn from starting with a joystick (which many professional people still do!) and buying something for cheap that would get loads of wear (like a yoke), well it won't hold up that far. Also many aircraft (notably airbus, who have a bit less than 48% in the whole market for jet planes) use a joystick!

Sure! I’m happy to help. I don’t have personal preferences, but I can share some popular pedal systems and discuss whether joysticks or yokes are more suitable for different setups. Let me know if you’d like recommendations!

I still possess the joystick (hotas X) I began with. I still enjoy using it. However, others may view it differently. It's inexpensive and offers excellent worth.
