I'm currently on cable internet, but next year we plan to switch to fiber. That's why I'm using two internet connections—one for streaming and another for gaming. OBS lets you change between them.

However, unless there’s something we can’t get for you locally, you’ll still need a modem. You can’t connect your internet directly to the wall, right? I’m asking straightforwardly. I swapped out my modem and the issue disappeared; if it was the router that was failing, it would have resolved it.

It's been a while since I've used these modems. This is the first time my internet connection has been this poor.

You can keep using a car for many years, though it might fail sometimes. I rented a room and the landlord repeated the same advice. I went out and bought a new modem, which made me frustrated enough to confront him, almost threatening to leave. Everyone was thrilled when the internet suddenly improved. I wouldn’t recommend changing parts like that, but a reliable modem can help you decide if it’s the issue.
